Week 13 Streaming Options: Quarterbacks, Tight Ends, DST

Streaming in week 12 has taught me one thing…Colin Kaepernik needs to be owned in way more leagues. Kaepernik finished as week 12’s QB1. No, that is not a typo. Anyways I’ll profess my love for Kaep later. Wentz was also a solid streaming option with 18 points. Ertz was so-so but Tye was an absolute whiff this week against a weak Cleveland defense. Was a bad week for DSTs too as neither Buffalo nor Tennessee could take advantage of great matchups.

Week 13 is a crucial week for many of you as it is probably your last regular season game and a must win to make the playoffs. Let’s see if we can find some streamers to help.

Colin Kaepernik, SF
For the third straight week Kaepernik is my number 1 QB streamer. I feel like he’s finally getting the attention he deserves (from a fantasy perspective) but he is still criminally low owned. He now has finishes of QB13, QB16, QB9, QB6, QB8 and QB1 since taking over as starter in week 6. He’s averaging 62 yards rushing per game which is a touchdown and a half in standard scoring regardless of his passing numbers. He has a safe floor and we just saw he has a huge ceiling too. Not only is he a great streamer but he can be many teams QB from now through the playoffs. I would rather have Kaepernik over Bortles, Manning, Palmer, Dalton, and Rivers ROS.  Even if you already have a locked in QB he will make a great fill in for QB’s who face Minnesota in the playoffs (Luck week 15, Rodgers week 16). Grab him now.

Matt Barkley, CHI
I cannot believe I am saying this but Barkley looked competent, no he looked good, on Sunday against the Titans. If not for some horrendous drops by his receivers he would have led a Chicago comeback. Even with the drops he finished with 316 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. In week 12 he gets the always juicy San Francisco defense at home who just gave up 3 touchdowns to Ryan Tannehill. If your league mates are smart and Kaepernik has been swooped up Barkley makes for a great play.

Tight Ends

C.J. Fiedorowicz, HOU
Streaming tight ends is the worst. The absolute worst. Luckily there is a tight end who is widely available and can be a sit and forget tight end ROS. I’m talking about C.J. Fiedorowicz, the only Houston pass catcher that Brock Osweiler can’t make completely irrelevant. Coming off a good but not great game against a San Diego defense that is good at shutting down tight ends, Fiedorowicz gets a Green Bay team that is not so good at shutting down tight ends. As an added benefit he finishes the season @IND, JAC, CIN. If you are hurting at tight end (and really who isn’t?) grab him off waivers and ride him the rest of the way.

Josh Hill, NO
Hill has been out-snapping Coby Fleener by a wide margin since week 8 but it has not translated into production as he’s been mostly used as a blocking back. That all changed in week 12 when he turned 6 targets into 6 catches for 74 yards. Now the Saints get Detroit at home who has been extremely generous to tight ends this year. There’s a chance Hill gets 80% of the snaps and runs very little routes again, but after this last week you have to think the trust with Brees is there.

Baltimore v Miami
Baltimore is my favorite type of fantasy defense. They are the best run stopping defense in the league which means teams have to throw on them usually with long yardages. When the defense knows the other team will throw they can pin their ears back and get sacks and turnovers. Now they welcome a Miami team with an adjusted sack rate of 8%, better than only 3 teams. Tannehill should be under pressure all game and with the injuries to the Miami offensive line Ajayi could have trouble finding running room.

San Diego v Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay is allowing 9.7 points to defenses this year and now has to go on the road to play a Chargers defense that is on fire. Joey Bosa has been a revelation for that line both in the run game and rushing the quarterback. Winston is prone to turnovers and with the pressure he’ll likely face the Chargers make a great play at home. San Diego is a defense you can hold as well as they finish @CAR, OAK (tough matchup), @CLE.

Looking Ahead: Defenses for Fantasy Playoffs
Week 14: CIN @ CLE, MIA v ARI, SD @ CAR
Week 15: BUF v CLE, HOU v JAC, MIA @ NYJ
Week 16: SD @ CLE, TEN @ JAC

Disagree with any of my streamers? Think I forgot about someone? Let me know in the comments below.
