All About MFL10’s (Best Ball) Leagues Part 1: Why Play?

My Fantasy League is the premier site to play fantasy football best ball leagues. A best ball league is a fantasy football draft only league. The rules are fairly simple. Draft a team of 20 players, each week your lineup will be set based on your best scorers at each position. The lineups consist of: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, Flex (RB/WR/TE), and DEF. Scoring is full point per reception. Once you draft you’re done, there are no waivers or trades. Whoever’s team scores the most total points for the season wins. Simple right? If you’ve never played before you should. Let’s look at some of the reasons why.

They’re Fun

Fantasy football is fun, that’s why we all play. Arguably the most enjoyable part of fantasy football is the draft. The excitement and hope of landing that breakout wide receiver or stud running back keeps us coming back for more. Best ball leagues are fantasy leagues if all you did was draft. The drafts are slow, snake style drafts. Each player has 8 hours to make a pick so you don’t have to be stuck at your computer for hours on end drafting. The best part is you can join as many leagues as you want and keep drafting over and over.

They’re Cheap

My Fantasy League best ball leagues start for as little as $10. For you high rollers out there they also have $25, $50 and even $100 leagues. You can join as many or as few leagues as you’d like. My preferred strategy is to deposit $100 and join 10, $10 leagues. This way I get plenty of drafts in and can have exposure to more players (I will cover this in more detail in part 2).

You Can Win Money

Leagues are a winner take all format. For $10 leagues the winner gets $100. That means if you are like me and join 10 leagues you can break even just by winning one league. Of course if that doesn’t get your juices flowing you can win more in the higher end leagues. $25 leagues pay out $200, $50 leagues pay out $400 and $100 leagues pay out $800.

They Help You Prepare For Your Standard League Draft

Even if you just join one league and don’t win any money they are still worth it. By seeing how other people draft you will get an idea of where players will be taken when it comes time to draft for your standard league. This alone will give you a big edge over your league mates. I like to join leagues all throughout the preseason but if you’re going to just join one league I suggest you wait until closer to preseason so you can get a more accurate picture of player ADP before your standard league draft.

Conclusion

If you have never tried a best ball league I hope this piqued your interest. Last year was the first year I tried these and I am hooked. Have fun with it and use it to help prepare you for your standard league draft and you’ll be hooked too!
